Mountain State Fair Information

Background:

·         Each year for many years the Buncombe County Republican Men’s Club has sponsored and manned an information booth at the North Carolina Mountain State Fair.   For the last several years, Henderson County has contributed to the cost of the booth and has furnished hard-working volunteers.  This year, the Club is working with the 11th Congressional District Executive Committee (and especially with Robin Wilson Ramsey, the Vice Chair) to have a booth paid for by Republicans from all the 11th District Counties and manned by volunteers from all the counties.   Looking forward to the new Congressional Districts, the Club has voted to invite all 10th District Republicans to participate

·         The objectives of the booth are to a) register voters (primarily, but not limited to, Republicans), b) represent to the thousands of passing citizens the smiling face of the Republican Party of WNC, and c) support WNC Republican candidates by offering a “home away from home” where they can meet literally thousands of WNC citizens.   The fall elections of this year, 2011, will determine the composition of most of the WNC municipal councils/commissions.  In Buncombe County, we have a tax increase to beat back!  We Republicans have the wind at our backs for the first time in several years.   This is the time to take advantage of that fact.

·         Volunteers are critical to the effort.    Most of those who read this note plan to attend the Mountain State Fair at least once between September 9 and September 18, 2011.   Please consider helping with the booth.   It will be some of the most rewarding time you have ever spent at the Fair!    Please especially note that we will be inside the new J. Clayton David Event Center, a permanent building with lots of space and with restrooms.   Contact George Keller at 828-252-4423 or send him an e-mail note.

Mountain State Fair Roster, 2011.  Pick out your day and time, and drop a note to George Keller.  No, you cannot write on the roster file yourself, but it’s easy to send a note.

Instructions for Volunteers, 2011.   These instructions will be updated from time to time until the last day of the fair, so check them before you leave home.   Volunteers are reminded to bring a cell phone, if you have one, and bring along your favorite political signs. We'd like to have the booth well decorated!
