Objective: To use my talents and my wide experience to develop effective web sites for small businesses, to teach individuals to use the web, to support cannon-charge developers in areas in which my expertise could make a significant contribution, and to pass on to the next generation something of the art of thinking like a physicist.

Education: 1956 - 1965, Georgia Institute of Technology, BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Physics.

Summary of Qualifications: 1967 - 1998 Ballistic Research Laboratory and Army Research Laboratory, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Research Physicist, working in laboratory astrophysics, in-situ stratospheric measurements of positive ions, chemical kinetics, and (for 17 years) interior ballistics: gun muzzle flash, thermal management, development of interior ballistic models and codes, and charge ignition mechanisms

Professional Experience: Research projects in the past ten years included a) development of interior ballistic codes, b) serving on the Army/Navy panel of experts who investigated the USS IOWA turret explosion, c) serving as the principal investigator for modeling investigations of Unicharge/modular artillery charge system (MACS) ignition processes, d) work with Benet and with PM-Crusader on the thermal management of fast-firing 155-mm cannons, e) assistance to ARDEC in modeling and understanding unusual ignition processes in 120-mm tank guns, and f) a continuing study of gun tube erosion mechanisms.

Experience as a Consultant in Interior Ballistics, a) short course in interior ballistics for the firing crews at Yuma Proving Ground, AZ, 1999. b) membership on Picatinny Arsenal (NJ) Red Team for solving problems with weapons system under development, 2000. c) study of charge cook-off. d) study of cannon-pressure-wave quantification using modern statistical techniques.
